Role Objectives & Challenges
The Buyer/Planner role, reporting directly to the Senior Supply Chain Manager, was critical in enhancing CVG’s supply chain operations. The primary objective was to identify a candidate who could immediately contribute to the team, seamlessly integrate into existing workflows, and bring fresh insights to elevate the department’s overall performance. This individual would be instrumental in optimizing supply chain processes while ensuring continuity in the midst of organizational transitions.
Our Approach to Solve the Search
Filling this role presented unique challenges that required a strategic and adaptable approach. The search process was complicated by high turnover within the company, which necessitated frequent adjustments to the recruitment strategy. Identifying a candidate who matched the nuanced requirements of the role and could thrive in a complex supply chain environment added another layer of complexity. The geographical location of the position, based in a remote southern region, further complicated sourcing efforts. To address this, we expanded our search radius to include neighboring areas across the southern United States. Recognizing the limitations of the automotive talent pool in the region, we diversified our search to include candidates from other industries with transferable skills. Throughout the process, we maintained close collaboration with both HR and plant management to ensure alignment with the client’s evolving needs and priorities.
The Hire & Results
Our approach resulted in a strong pipeline of qualified candidates, all of whom were well-received by the client. The successful hire came from our initial talent pool and was based in the region, meeting the client’s geographic and skill requirements. Additionally, the quality of our candidate submissions was so strong that CVG decided to hire a second candidate for another role, underscoring the depth and versatility of the talent we provided. By sourcing multiple candidates who not only met but exceeded the client’s expectations, we were able to help CVG address immediate hiring needs while also strengthening their supply chain team for future growth.
