Role Objectives & Challenges
Calico Cottage, a small CPG company, was struggling to hire for this essential role and engaged SCM Talent Group to leverage our extensive network to fill the Purchasing Agent position. The ideal candidate needed to be based on Long Island, NY, and able to work onsite. Additionally, the role required a candidate with a strong CPG background and sufficient tactical experience to handle duties such as cutting purchase orders. The company also sought someone more tech-savvy than some of their existing staff to upgrade their understanding of inventory terms and fill rates.
Our Approach to Solve the Search
We conducted a local, commutable radius search focused on candidates emerging from the food and beverage industry who possess a solid understanding of food and ingredients. Purchasing experience was essential, as the candidate needed to hit the ground running with minimal onboarding. The hire had to be capable of executing tasks immediately to ensure the client did not lose any ground in production or purchasing.
