Role Objectives & Challenges
After experiencing a significant period of growth, the company identified the need for a procurement executive to modernize and professionalize key procurement categories. This new role was designed to implement formal supply agreements, analyze spending patterns, assess the supplier base, and conduct a comprehensive review of supplier relationships. The overarching goal was to optimize the supply base and mitigate risks as the company continued to grow and expand its footprint. Additionally, the role required someone capable of upskilling and upgrading the procurement team to align with modern sourcing and procurement practices. With the company growing at a double-digit pace, it was essential to enable sustainable growth while improving margins. The ideal candidate needed to balance these challenges while establishing efficient and scalable procurement strategies.
Our Approach to Solve the Search
The sourcing strategy focused on identifying candidates with experience in the food and beverage industry, particularly those with a background in managing short shelf-life products and time-sensitive operations. The target candidates needed to demonstrate an understanding of the entire supply chain, including primary production, transportation logistics, and distribution to end customers. Given the company’s reliance on suppliers based in South America, the search emphasized candidates located in Florida, allowing for closer proximity to suppliers and better alignment with operational requirements. The focus was on individuals who had worked in billion-dollar companies, as this experience ensured familiarity with best practices and scalability at an organizational level. The search prioritized candidates who could not only meet the operational demands of the role but also contribute strategic leadership to the growing company.
The Hire & Results
By partnering with the Head of HR, we successfully identified a slate of highly qualified candidates based in Central and Southern Florida. Five candidates were selected for interviews with the hiring team at Nature’s Touch Frozen Foods. The final hire was a candidate based in South Florida who brought a strong background in manufacturing and procurement. This individual had extensive experience across multiple industries, including food and beverage, and possessed the expertise required to address the company’s unique challenges. The hiring process was completed within the desired timeframe, ensuring that Nature’s Touch secured a leader capable of driving modernization, optimizing supply chains, and supporting the company’s continued growth.
