Odyssey Group Holdings, Inc., along with its subsidiaries collectively known as Odyssey Group, is one of the world’s leading providers of reinsurance and specialty insurance.

Role Objectives & Challenges

This was a newly created position, as the client was in the process of establishing procurement as a formalized function within the organization. Focused on services-based procurement, the role did not involve manufacturing operations. At the early stages of centralizing and bringing spending under procurement’s control, the company needed to introduce standardization, regulation, and cost-saving measures. The ideal candidate required a background in IT to assist in further developing this procurement function, particularly in designing processes to optimize procurement efforts and align them with organizational goals.

Our Approach to Solve the Search

Given the hybrid nature of the role, we conducted a local search for professionals with IT sourcing and procurement experience. Candidates also needed to have a background in large organizations with comparable spending levels. Additionally, the role required expertise as a program manager with demonstrated skills in designing, developing, and implementing standard operating procedures (SOPs) and processes around indirect procurement.

The Hire & Results

We successfully identified a local candidate who was actively seeking this type of opportunity. The candidate had extensive IT experience and a solid understanding of indirect procurement processes. Furthermore, they demonstrated the ability to scale the procurement function as it expanded across the organization. The hiring process was facilitated primarily in collaboration with the Human Resources department. Open communication and timely feedback allowed for the efficient presentation of candidates, culminating in the selection of the ideal candidate from the provided slate.
