Role Objectives & Challenges

The initial search involved filling two key roles—an Industrial Engineer and a Quality Manager—for Bright Star’s new facility in Dallas, TX. The company was in a critical phase, preparing to open a new location that emphasized production efficiency, analytics, and quality control. The Industrial Engineer was responsible for designing the layout of the new facility and providing insights into how products could be redesigned and refurbished for maximum efficiency. Additionally, they were tasked with ensuring that operations were optimized from both a production and quality standpoint. The Quality Manager role was essential in maintaining the quality of output at the new facility. They were responsible for implementing processes and systems that would ensure all products met strict standards before being shipped out. Once these foundational roles were filled, Bright Star’s Dallas location was able to begin operations successfully. However, a new need arose for a Transportation Analyst to manage the intricate logistics of international shipping and ensure the smooth flow of products in and out of the facility. This role required not only logistical expertise but also the ability to negotiate with external vendors and manage operations on a global scale. The Transportation Analyst would be key in identifying the most efficient shipping and parceling methods for products and ensuring that logistics operated seamlessly.

Our Approach to Solve the Search

The search faced several challenges, particularly in sourcing highly specialized talent within the Dallas area. For the Industrial Engineer role, Dallas offered a significant talent pool in logistics and supply chain, but we needed to focus on candidates with strong engineering backgrounds and expertise in continuous improvement. We sourced from local talent who had experience in facility design and product optimization. For the Quality Manager, we targeted candidates with extensive experience in Quality Management Systems (QMS). The ideal candidate needed to be adept at managing high-volume environments, ensuring that all products adhered to the necessary quality standards. The Transportation Analyst role had a unique requirement—railway certification—which became a key focus in our sourcing strategy. Additionally, the candidate needed a deep understanding of international logistics and transportation, with the ability to manage shipping processes on a global scale.

The Hire & Results

The first two positions, Industrial Engineer and Quality Manager, were filled within 60 days. Our team worked closely with the General Manager of the new Dallas facility, holding weekly meetings to vet candidates. Both hires were sourced from local talent in the Dallas area, bringing the necessary skills and experience to ensure the success of the new location. The selected Industrial Engineer brought extensive experience in engineering, logistics, and continuous improvement, allowing them to design the facility and streamline production processes effectively. The Quality Manager hire had a proven track record in managing quality systems, particularly in high-volume environments, ensuring that the products met the company’s high standards. The final hire for the Transportation Analyst role had a strong background in railway logistics, along with expertise in international shipping and vendor negotiations. This candidate’s knowledge of bulk logistics and cutting-edge transportation technologies helped optimize the logistics network for Bright Star’s Dallas facility. These strategic hires enabled Brightstar to successfully launch its Dallas location and optimize its logistics and production processes, positioning the company for continued growth and success in the highly competitive refurbishing and reverse logistics market.
