Role Objectives & Challenges

To support our client’s rapid North American growth, our client prioritized hiring a new VP of Supply Chain, reporting directly to the CFO. This role is responsible for leading the supply chain organization and developing the strategic vision to modernize Walk-On’s supply chain. The goal is to establish best-in-class food safety, purchasing, and expertise to develop supply chain processes that enable/ sustain top-line revenue growth while achieving y-o-y operational efficiencies and margin improvements. To support the brand’s growth and bolster its leadership presence in the restaurant & franchise industries the challenge was to source & qualify a dynamic best-in-class Supply Chain senior executive. This person from the foodservice industry needed demonstrated soft-skills, energy, hands-on leadership style, servant leadership & customer-oriented approach to establish & strengthen relationships across the organization & franchise network.

Our Approach to Solve the Search

Leveraging SCM Talent Group’s executive network and expertise in Hospitality, Foodservice, F&B, and Wholesale Distribution, we interviewed for a unique opportunity to lead a “Retained” search targeting senior SCM executives in the casual dining and quick-serve restaurant franchise sector. Due to the role complexities, we collaborated weekly with the CFO to align expectations, expedite submittals, and review candidate sourcing progress using Sourcing Pipeline reports.

The Hire & Results

After carefully reviewing several vetted candidates, we narrowed the field of qualified top-tier candidates to five finalists. We presented this slate for collective review and on-site corporate interviews. Ultimately one candidate stood out as the preferred finalist and received an offer within four weeks from search start in November 2023.
