Vice President of Supply Chain

Client Profile

Baking supplies producer

Role Objectives & Challenges

This search aimed to combine two positions into one Vice President of Supply Chain role, overseeing the end-to-end supply chain for a baking supplies company. With 200-500 employees, the company required a candidate capable of operating at this scale. Industry experience and a deep understanding of the entire supply chain were essential, along with the ability to work cross-functionally with other parts of the business.

Our Approach to Solve the Search

We began by focusing on the outskirts of Chicago, an area rich with companies from which to source candidates. Our emphasis was on individuals with a comprehensive understanding of the supply chain who could design and implement processes, particularly those with expertise in technology-driven Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) mechanics and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. While the client was open to relocation, there was a preference for local candidates. The hiring team was robust, including the Head of Human Resources, Head of Internal Recruiting, a new HR employee, and the Co-President of the company.

The Hire & Results

We successfully managed and accommodated a large client hiring team, facilitating a smooth process despite potential obstacles inherent in such endeavors. Our screening form for each candidate streamlined the team review process, ensuring consistency. We identified a local candidate from a large food company with a similar cultural background and industry knowledge. Although not actively seeking new employment, he appreciated the local opportunity, which reduced his work travel compared to his current position. After a thorough review of a substantial slate of candidates, the hiring team selected this local Vice President of Supply Chain.
