Our Founder, Rodney Apple, began working in supply chain recruiting in 1998 before supply chain became popular in the business world (listen to his start-up story via the Supply Chain Now Podcast).

In 2001, Rodney received a call from The Home Depot, a Fortune 15 corporation at the time, concerning a project to lead recruitment for the build-out of the company’s first supply chain department. Rodney landed the role and soon after recruited their ground floor supply chain organization consisting of a VP of Supply Chain, Director of Replenishment, and 11 Sr Supply Chain Managers. He went on to lead all professional and executive supply chain recruitment for the company through 2004.

Home Depot is where Rodney fell in love with supply chain management. He recognized early on that supply chain was going to be “a big deal” for many years to come, and in 2004, Rodney formed SCM Talent Group with the goal of helping other companies build and transform their supply chain organizations.

Rodney’s first client was The Coca-Cola Company, where he spent 6+ years leading all professional and executive supply chain recruiting for 20+ factories, strategic sourcing & procurement, inventory planning, S&OP, logistics, continuous improvement, quality and related departments.

Building upon successes at Home Depot and Coca-Cola, and subsequent supply chain recruiting projects with Kimberly-Clark, Cummins, and PWC, Rodney decided to expand the company’s service offerings in 2012 beyond exclusive retained client engagements.

From 2014-2021 Rodney proudly served as the Supply Chain Career Coach for the Association of Supply Chain Management Professionals (ASCM, formerly APICS) and led the Professional Development department as a writer for ASCM’s magazine, SCM Now.

Rodney also authors The Supply Chain Talent Blog and has been featured in many of the leading supply chain trade journals over the years sharing his expertise in supply chain recruiting and career development. In 2021 Rodney will be publishing his first book titled Supply Chain Careers – the Guidebook for Launching and Accelerating your Career in Supply Chain Management
